The Potawatomi Hotel & Casino of Milwaukee, Wisconsin recently played host to the World Series of Poker Circuit. From January 31st until February 11th, the casino was home to several poker events, including the Main Event. Event #10 on the schedule, the Main Event had a buy-in of $1,700 and saw 667 players register to compete. The prize pool amassed just over $1 million and it was Michael Hudson that would claim the win after four days of competition.
First Gold Ring:
The win would signify the first gold ring for Hudson, who earned $207,159 for the first place finish. The No Limit Hold’em Main Event was a tough field and Hudson would begin in Day 1A. By the time Day 2 rolled around, Hudson was ready to hit the final table. A big hand secured his chip stack and take a leading position, setting himself up nicely for the final table.
By the time the Day 3 finale began, nine players would return to the felt with Hudson pushing his chip stack over the 10 million mark rather quickly. He would have the first to knockouts of the day, helping to secure a major lead. One by one, players would be eliminated until only Hudson and Joshua Turner in heads-up play.
The Final Two:
When the heads-up round began, Turner would be down quite a bit, but not out. He would begin a comeback and eventually took the chip lead at one point. However, the lead would go back to Hudson and it was all over from there.
According to the WSOPC…
Hudson would go all in on the flop of 5-4-2. Turner would call. Hudson shows J-5 while Turner holds Q-6 hearts. With two hearts on the flop, Turner is hoping for one more. The 10 of diamonds on the turn was no help and the 2 of clubs on the river signaled Turner’s end in the event and gave Hudson the Potawatomi Main Event title and his first gold ring win!
