OLG bags prestigious WLA responsible gambling accolade
In Canada, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced that it was recently awarded with the Best Overall Responsible Gambling Program 2018 accolade by the World Lottery Association (WLA).
Play Smart recognition:
The crown agency used an official Thursday press release to detail that the prize recognized the impact of its Play Smart responsible gambling program and was bestowed as part of November’s biennial World Lottery Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Double delight:
The OLG’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Rigby, explained that this marks the second time his Ontario firm has bagged the coveted WLA award following a first win in 2014. He also stated that the prize is handed out every two years to a level-four gaming operator that has continually demonstrated ‘excellence in responsible gambling’.
Rigby’s statement read…
“OLG’s responsible gambling program is driven by a simple vision; to provide a healthy and positive gambling experience for all players. We have a responsibility to our customers and employees as well as our business and community partners to provide the most effective programming that promotes positive play and mitigates harmful gambling.”
Improvement commitment:
Toronto-headquartered OLG declared that it is now the only gaming and lottery organization to have won the WLA’s Best Overall Responsible Gambling Program accolade on two separate occasions with the most recent recognizing its ‘strategic approach to responsible gambling’ alongside its dedication to continually improving its Play Smart scheme, which includes the implementation of ‘robust and innovative training programs for retailers and employees’.

Finally, Rigby proclaimed that his organization’s Play Smart program utilizes ‘engaging multimedia content’ to assist players in a fun and entertaining way to better understand ‘key gambling concepts’ and how games work so that they can implement more effective budgetary controls.
